From Raw image to Light and Airy

I photograph mostly Children, often in boutique style dresses either for fashion editorials, or family photo sessions. This session was composed at Duxbury beach in Massachusetts on a warm but windy day in late April.
The photo above was shot with a Canon 6D with flash and a 24-105L lens at 45mm 100 ISO 1/100 sec f/10. I shoot in Raw which can sometimes come out muddy looking especially when you are shooting late afternoon and the light is changing quickly.

My workflow starts in Lightroom where I import and catalog the images then choose which I will keep. Then I pick the very best of those to start editing in Photoshop. Sometimes I will use presets in Lightroom before moving onto Photsohop. I might start off with MCP Enlighten Preset to adjust the exposure and shadows, or for this one I used a peachy tone, and for this image I needed to use the lens correction to adjust the point of view and straighten the bridge.

In Photoshop, with this particular image, I chose the MCP Spring Splendor Actions. I start with Spring splendor (light) which gives me the option to adjust all of the workflow layers while mixing and matching the spring looks. This makes my workflow go much more quickly because all of the adjustments I would normally do individually are already done, I just adjust the intensity a little, for example;for the base just increased the color pop. For the spring looks, I really like the creaminess but I want to use some of the haze later so I chose the cherry instead.

The spring hazes are so beautiful all together but I picked peach and pink because those and the colors I am trying to enhance for this image. I added spring skies as well which really helps the overcast sky.

Finally I use the sharpening action from the Season extras and choose the sharpening amount I like. flatten the image save. I try to edit all images from one hoot similarly so they all have a consistent feel and work with my artistic style. The spring Splendor Action set definately helps me create images that are consistent with my style and brand. – Amanda, Amanda & Bella Photography www.amandaandbellaphotography.com
